Awesome Auto Repair video: ENGINE KNOCK METAL IN THE OIL PAN

ENGINE KNOCK METAL IN THE OIL PAN

In this video we noticed some metal shaving in our oil and oil pan and the car developed an engine knock. We took the head apart we did not find anything that could cause the metal shaving. After some further investigation we found out that it is aluminum. Once we took the head off we noticed that the engine block and the pistons had some wear. Especially cylinder 1 and 3. The car developed piston slap.

  1. Question – why did you do all of this work? Is this your personal car? A warranty job? The videos are very good and I own a hyundai, so thank you. Just trying to understand the meaning behind all of this work.

  2. Both pistons had some visible cracks across the side walls. It looks like a fault in the manufacturing or in the material. I'm not a car mechanic – is this normal? Daym, I was thinking of buying a Hyundai or a Kia and this put me off a bit.
