Awesome Review: Mercedes E-Class Estate 2018 in-depth review | Mat Watson Reviews

The Mercedes E-Class Estate is a luxurious and practical family car that looks great, comes with a superb interior and (if you’re happy to pay a little extra) some desirable tech, too. Is it better than the ageing Audi A6 Avant or the brand new BMW 5 Series Touring, though? I take an in-depth look at this capacious German estate to help you decide if it’s the right car for you.

  1. It should be illegal to design a MB like that. The rear look like a collapsed frog. Ugly as f*ck. Would feel emberessed to drive around in any of the models looking like that

  2. Tested the Beemer and the Volvo, I felt this was streets ahead in refinement and noise. Comfort too, the Beemer was just a little too firm and direct. Horses for courses quite probably.

  3. Never seen such a forced dude before. Throwing things around and treating the car with no care at all. I would not like to buy a car that he has owned. Probably scratched to hell all over the place.

  4. I use the keyless, leg wave under the boot thing, all the time when bringing groceries, crates of beer/liquor/etc to the car with no help. It’s so convenient.

  5. The purpose of the low seats is that they recline further. Perhaps you can’t realize this in a short test but, on a road trip, you’ll understand why they’ve done that and why it’s superior to BMW/Audi. This is their speciality.

  6. Also, if you can’t afford a large car like this with a V8, or at LEAST, a V6 (petrol or diesel), you cannot afford this car. Buy a Skoda and you’ll be able to save a ton of money and get better value than a cheap MB5-series.

  7. Just go AMG and there are no fake exhausts. Seriously, just buy an older used version vs. some new BS. It’s better ROI and enjoyment. Don’t be a poser and do it.

  8. In Autonomous Driving, the Driver must be seated in the Driver seat, in you video you are sitting in the Passenger Seat, the Car must sense the presence of driver.

  9. I have a 2018 E220d Estate and I must say that I really do love everything about it apart from the new engine and gearbox. the engine has no power and relies too heavily on the turbo to pull it along, its rattly and harsh sounding, the gearbox hangs onto gears for too long going up steep hills (probably because at low revs the car doesn't pull) making a right racket. The engine is way too loud in the cabin.
I'm not sure who designed the cruise control, at say 70 I click up to 75 and the car will drop from 8th to 6th, give a kick and then change up 7th and back to 8th.
I could go on but I feel I'm already whingeing.
oh and I have had a 3 E Classes previous to this one, the last on has done 220k miles and it sounds and behaves better than my new one.
    I am disappointed

  10. Why is the boot space extender a good thing? My ford kuga can do that with a lever about risking trapping fingers or manually throwing seat backs around
