Awesome Hot Wheels Review: 1967 Ford Fairlane – One Take

This 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 has been mechanically restored by one of our favorite characters, Walt, who drove this car over 2,000 miles from Utah for the shoot. It’s got a hopped-up 302, manual transmission, and drives way better than it looks.

  1. I absolutely love it. I'm building something similar out of a 1964 Fairlane 4 door. It has a well built 351W/4 speed. The first actual muscle car type engine I've ever built. I have built a number of engines intended for drag racing, that were very difficult to drive on the street. I am currently doing the suspension/steering/brakes. It will have manual disc brakes and manual rack and pinion steering.

  2. I have a 66 4dr Fairlane with a 3.3QSB Cummins Turbo Diesel and a T-5 tranny. 33 mpg hi way, ford 8.8 rear limited slip. 4wheel disk brakes, interior just needs front seat redone. Body just needs paint and a little body. Is now my DD.

  3. There simply are no engines that sound as cool as the old small block Ford. Things changed with the 351 for some reason. It just doesn't have that sounds, but 302's and 289's are epic.

  4. All you guys out there (and girls) with great old hot rods need to get 'em to Matt. I love this one. And yeah, I'm old enough that a hot rod wasn't strictly a '32 low boy or a kit car version like the term means now. They were whatever you got your hands on a cranked up the horsepower on. Jack the back up, traction bars, a four speed, 9 inch rear, Hooker headers and Cherry Bombs. Boom. Wake the neighbors!

  5. What are the mods to the 302? He doesn't have to give up his cam specs I was curious about his compression ratio because it sounds nasty. What is an estimate for his power and torque curve? I'm gonna guess no higher than 400 horse if that.
