The Lexus LC500 is a full-size “personal luxury coupe,” in the vein of the BMW 6-series, Mercedes S550 Coupe and SL550, entry level Aston Martin’s, and, to an extent, the Porsche 911. It is a clean sheet design on an all-new platform that will also underpin the next LS sedan. Under the hood is a 470 HP Naturally Aspirated 5.0L V8 with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. And what we found after a day of driving is that Lexus has hit an absolute home run and we love it.

Full Disclosure: Lexus paid for travel, lodging, meals, and a shared test vehicle in order to facilitate the production of this video. Lexus also provided professional-grade beauty shots and drive by shots, and gave me a bag of Hawaiian Kona Coffee and a Hat. I gave away the hat, but I’m drinking the Coffee.

  1. It's the engine from the old IS-F, they stopped the production in 2k14 but they had the same engine. The N/A V8 with 400+ horsepower. It does the exact same sound. Maybe the engine was a little retouched ouver the years but it has the same specs overall.

  2. It's so cool to know that some car manufacturers haven't given up on the good ol v8 engine. When alot of them are going twin turbo 4 or 6 cylinders. And I don't give a shit what anybody thinks. A V8 engine with a custom exhaust well always sound better then any 4 0r 6 cylinder engine with a custom exhaust. Period.

  3. Nice review and kudos to Lexus for drawing outside the lines with this amazing design. The Merc and BMW are so ho hum compared to this. It's so modern but still evokes the styling of the grand coupes of the 20s and 30s. They really nailed it! The C7 was the last design which really got me fired up but this car…well…incomparable in my view. Not the performer that the C7 is but that's not what it wants to be. I will definitely shop this after a couple years of depreciation sets in. New buyers will not beat up or track this car. Not the demographic. So in a couple of years I'm there.

Another reviewer liked the track pad. It may take some getting use to. Thanks again for the review!

  4. I used to have a Supra and absolutely loved the car. Would love to own a modern version of a similar car, and this car is gorgeous inside and out…but not for $100k….Cut that price in half.

  5. Looks amazing in person. My first thought when I saw it parked next to other cars was how it actually looks like a concept car, not a production car. Very very cool.

  6. The first Lexus I've seen that actually has my interest, good looking car. Hopefully Lexus/Toyota in general are trying to buck the a to b boring commuter car route and start to make desirable automobiles.
