The Smoking Tire attends Rally North America’s “Smoky Mountain Rally” from Knoxville to Savannah in the Mercedes GLE63 AMG. Rally North America is a charity organization that raised over $115,000 for Hope For the Warriors on its way across the south. On day 1, we drive from Knoxville, TN to Hendersonville, NC, hitting the Blue Ridge Parkway and Cherahola Skyway in between.

  1. @thesmokingtire Matt, I can't believe you were so close (and even on US-129 at one point) to The tail of the dragon and didn't go down it! 318 Turns/curves in 11 miles, I'd love to see some onetakes on ToTD

  2. What a great rally for a fantastic cause. haven't been on the road since bullrun 2009…..and now I am jones'ing to get behind the wheel again! Watch out Matty-boy….I am coming for ya!

  3. Great work, Smoking Tire team. One of your best and that's saying something. Great storytelling, shot beautifully, and your best writing. I hope we see more like… And then there's the view count. Keep at it.

  4. Great narrative. You remind me of a younger Anthony Bourdain from No Reservations (in a good way). It's fun for us west coasters to get a flavor for driving events in the other half of the country.

  5. Matt: As an FYI, this didn't pop up on my subscriptions feed. Could be why you have so few views compared to your one takes.
The One Takes are entertaining, but these types of videos are much appreciated.
    Cheers!

  6. I remember when my dad were going up to Toronto and we saw you in the GLE 63 on I-95 just before you got off to go to Roebling. Took me a while to figure out it was you driving until I saw your Instagram

  7. I'm really loving these videos Matt and they look like some much fun! Keep up the great work as always and if your in Australia anytime I would love for your opinion on my Subaru Blitzen Series 2 Twin Turbo Legacy.

    Thanks, Chris
