  1. I wouldn't take that "awd" system on icy roads. If you wanna use electric only you are driving rwd car. When you suddenly lose control of the car it is already too late to begin starting the petrol engine and waiting to get torque to front wheels..

  2. The point you make about having the small electric motor (small in power, small in battery capacity and range) work only the rear wheels and the ICE running only the front wheels is a huge defect in the engineering design of a vehicle like this in terms of AWD. The Volvo engineers need to go back to the drawing board and design a system in which both axles are powered by both the electric motor and the ICE, like other manufacturers do (such as Audi, Porsche, etc.). A V6 would also be nicer than a 4-cylinder engine in such a big car (I can imagine lots of problems after a few years with a supercharger and turbocharger with a small engine for a big vehicle), but I see the lack of a coordinated drivetrain run by both motor & engine being a bigger flaw.

  3. Another amazing video! Which one do you prefer? R design or Incription? I love the exterior of the r design just my one concern is the sports seats. How are they on a long trip?

  4. please explain what any "exterior/height" differences between this car and both the V90 cross country and the V90 inscription R-design 2018 models?

  5. What's with this obsession with the rear seats of a car?

Surely the Volvo is intended to be a family car, not an Über wannabe?

So, how many families drive around with seven adults in the car?

Why not test it as it's intended to be — with two adults in the front seats and some five kids in the back? Or at least with two grandparents in the back and three kids in the remaining seats?

  6. hi thomas! im about to buy a this volvo xc90 r design d5, but i can get the mercedes GLE suv 250d 4matic exclusive plus at the same price… which would u recommend???

  7. This is one of the TOP full size SUV in terms of elegance, functionality, space and power. The most complete review of any car, great job Thomas, I always follow your reviews in every car because you are one of the very best and honest reviewer out there.

  9. Excellent review thanks, much better than the typical magazine shallow reviews. I'd take this over the equivalent Audi/BMW/Merc any day. Trying to decide between XC90 T8 and smaller XC60 T8 for next car. Hope you get to review that one too.
